More commonly known as Cipro, this antibiotic is used for treatment following an inhalation of anthrax. Data is ambiguous in that therapeutic doses during pregnancy are unlikely to pose a teratogenic risk, but it is impossible to say there is no risk. It is a category C antibiotic. This antibiotic has shown to cause joint abnormalities in animals, particularly permanent cartilage erosion in weight-bearing joints of young dogs. 1 To see the results of other studies click here: http://www.fda.gov/cder/drug/infopage/cipro/cipropreg.htm.
